Professor Gunther Roelkens, Ghent University, is member of the Steering Committee of ECIO 2017.

About Gunther Roelkens
Gunther Roelkens received a degree in electrical engineering from Ghent University, Belgium, in 2002 and a PhD from the same university in 2007, at the Department of Information Technology (INTEC), where he is currently associate professor. In 2008, he was a visiting scientist in IBM TJ Watson Research Center, New York. He is assistant professor at Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands. His research interest includes the heterogeneous integration of III-V semiconductors and other materials on top of silicon waveguide circuits and electronic/photonic co-integration.

About The Photonics Research Group, Ghent University
The Photonics Research Group in the Department of Information Technology (INTEC) of Ghent University is active in the field of photonic integration – more specifically silicon photonics – and its applications in information and communication technology, in sensing and in life sciences. The group is closely associated with IMEC. The group is embedded in the UGent Center for Nano- and Biophotonics.
